For the past 5 years TK Innovation has been proud to donate material and labor to “The Warbirds of Glory Museum” in Brighton, Michigan. The museum’s director Patrick Mihalek is returning a B-25J to flightworthy status after it was abandoned for over 40 years outside Fairbanks, Alaska.

Patrick and his team established the “Kittyhawk Academy” who’s mission is to “Educate future generations in history, aviation maintenance, teamwork, skill trades and good values all through restoring our B-25 Sandbar Mitchell.” The museum engages with students as young as 14 who learn aerospace and industrial skills through a hands-on approach working with industry experts on everything from workshop skills to CNC machining.

In the past TKI has donated firewalls, control panels, throttle quadrant shims, and full wing spars. TKI was pleased to donate window gussets and spar webbing this past week. Patrick’s team has made considerable progress, just recently the rear center spar webbing has been permanently riveted into place. The museum has ambitious plans for 2020 including: Putting the rear spar section completely together, Finishing the top turret, and Finishing the flight controls.
